Winternight is a holiday marking the end of winter, celebrated in the Two Rivers and the wider Westlands.[1]
Overview[]
Winternight marks the end of winter, and is celebrated the night before Bel Tine, the beginning of spring, where lanterns are lit to pray that the Wheel of Time weaves a loved one's soul back in to the world through rebirth.[2]
Activities[]
Winternight occurs on 7 Aine in the Two Rivers. In the morning, Egwene al'Vere is welcomed to the Women's Circle by having her hair braided and being pushed from a cliff into the rapids below. Meanwhile, Tam and Rand al'Thor make their way to Emond's Field for the festivities.[1]
In Season One, Episode One, "Leavetaking", Trollocs attack the Two Rivers and the al'Thor Farm on Winternight.
Changes from the book series[]
Winternight is an adaptation of the holiday of the same name (book spoilers!) from the book series.
