A wilder is the Westlands term for an active female channeler who has never had any sort of training in the White Tower.[1]
Overview[]
A wilder is a woman who can channel the One Power, but is not an Aes Sedai, Accepted, or novice, or formerly trained as such.[1] In isolated communities, it is common for wilders to serve as village healers, and use their powers for good, although they might be unaware of their true abilities. In the Two Rivers, the respected position of Wisdom is usually held by a latent wilder.[2][3]
All male channelers are technically "wilders" in a sense, as there is no organization that exists to teach them, due to the taint of saidin, but the term typically does not apply to men.
Known wilders[]
- Doral Barran (Wisdom)
- Nynaeve al'Meara (Wisdom, later enrolled at the White Tower)
Changes from the book series[]
Wilders are adapted from the concept of the same name (book spoilers!) in the book series.
