Tigraine Mantear is a character in The Wheel of Time television series portrayed by Magdalena Sittova.
Tigraine Mantear was a Maiden of the Spear who fought in the Battle of the Shining Walls at the end of the Aiel War.
History[]
Life[]
Tigraine was raised as the Daughter-Heir of Andor. She is known to have "run off" and mysteriously disappeared. Tigraine's actions left Queen Mordrellen without an heir, causing a succession crisis.[1] Tigraine joined the Aiel and became a Maiden of the Spear. She fought in the war against the Westlands, falling pregnant by Janduin.[2]
During the Aiel War, Tigraine fought in the Battle of the Shining Walls on the slopes of Dragonmount while heavily pregnant. She began to go into labor, but was attacked by several of the Illianer Companions; she defeated many of the combatants, but one of the soldiers managed to stab her in the side before she killed him. She had settled to give birth when Tam al'Thor, Second Captain of the Companions, found her, threatening Tigraine with his heron-mark sword. When he realized she was in labor, he set aside the sword and helmet and offered her his hand, which she took, and he helped her through the birth.
Tigraine died as al'Thor took the newborn baby. At the same moment, Gitara Moroso had a Foretelling about the Dragon's rebirth in the White Tower, feeling her pain and dying at the same moment that Tigraine did.[3] After Tigraine died, Tam took the baby, and raised him as his own son.[4] Her body was later found by Janduin and his Aiel companions, who could find no sign of the baby.[2]
Season 1[]
Min Farshaw tells Rand al'Thor of her first vision, which was of a man she saw on the street in Tar Valon. She saw the man deliver a baby on the slopes of Dragonmount, and raise the child in a sleepy village by two rivers.[4]
Season 3[]
Queen Morgase Trakand fears for Elayne after her own mysterious disappearance from the White Tower. She tells her daughter that she does not want her to "run off" like Tigraine did.[1]
In Rhuidean, Rand relives the moment Janduin discovered Tigraine's death in the glass columns.[2]
Physical appearance[]
Tigraine has red hair, fair skin, and freckles.
Abilities[]
Tigraine was an extremely great fighter, and was able to defeat and kill many of the Illianer Companions during active labor.[4]
