: You still here after all this time?
: [people screaming, clamoring]
: My friend can make all the scary thoughts go away.
Lanfear: What's his name?
: Aludran.
Lanfear: He's holding you back.
: I want you to tell me what you know about Perrin Aybara.
Eldrin: We haven't seen him.
: [Natti hyperventilates]
: [grunts]
: No!
Dain: One of you is a witch!
: Wait!
Perrin: Natti and the girls are in the camp.
: Bain, Chiad and I will sneak in.
: Perrin.
: Where's your mother?
: You did this?
: [grunts]
: [grunts]
: The time for watching him is through, Egwene Sedai.
Egwene: Every night, I see her in my dreams.
: [gasps]
: Can you travel with me in the Dream?
: Is there something you saw in Rhuidean?
: [grunts, shouts]
Egwene: And it's worth the risk?
Moiraine: Yes.
Lanfear: A queen in your bed already, Rahvin?
: You can sniff each other's asses later.
: [chuckles]
: Sammael.
: A bracelet.
: Liandrin's looking for the matching collar.
: We're going to collar the Dragon Reborn himself.

A thirteen-year-old Liandrin holds a crying infant in a dingy cellar.

Liandrin: He won't want you screaming like that. He doesn't like screaming. I said quiet, you little rat!

Liandrin takes the infant's hand, and it quiets down.

Liandrin: Aludran. That's your name.

The cellar door unlocks and Boral Lounalt enters with another man. The infant, Aludran, begins crying again.

Boral: It's got your whore's face. Give it here.

Liandrin shakes her head.

Boral: Drown it.

The man nods and approaches Liandrin to take the infant.

Liandrin: No!

Liandrin channels as she screams, piercing the man through the forehead, killing him. Boral takes a step toward her, and she screams again, channeling and killing him too. Liandrin stands with the baby, and stomps on Boral's head repeatedly.

Liandrin takes Aludran out to the crowded Tanchico docks, but she's ignored.

Liandrin: Please. Please, can you help me? I need to get out of the city. Please.
Passerby: Get out me way.
Liandrin: [cries] Please. Please.
Passerby 2: Get what you deserve, hussy.
Liandrin: Please help.
Passerby 3: Take your begging elsewhere.
Liandrin: [crying] Someone. Anyone! Don't walk away from me!

Liandrin settles beneath a statue of a collared man, humming to Aludran, and falls asleep.

Ishamael: Hello.

Liandrin gasps. The docks are empty except for her and Ishamael, who kneels down next to her.

Ishamael: Liandrin. That's your name, right? Would you like some help?

Liandrin nods. Ishamael offers his hand to her, and she takes it.

In the Hall of the Tower in a dream. Liandrin, now an adult, sits on the Amyrlin Seat.

Lanfear: So here you are. You've been slippery since you left the Tower.
Liandrin: Lady Lanfear.
Lanfear: [chuckles] It's hard to feign obedience from the Amyrlin Seat.
Liandrin: I did what you asked. I stayed in the Tower as long as I could.
Lanfear: You miss it there, don't you? Miss feeling like you're important.
Liandrin: You ask something else of me?
Lanfear: What are you doing in Tanchico?
Liandrin: It's my home, Mistress.
Lanfear: Are you working for him?
Liandrin: Who?
Lanfear: Rahvin.
Liandrin: Ah. I didn't know he held sway in the Black Ajah. All of us were loyal to Ishamael. But he's dead now I hear.
Lanfear: If you think to play us against one another, know it is a dangerous game, Liandrin.
Liandrin: My cabal are loyal to me and I am loyal to you. Ask anything of me, Mistress. [breathing shakily]
Lanfear: Five sisters sworn to the Shadow is too fine a prize for the others to overlook. Rahvin will have gotten to one of you. Someone who thinks she's cleverer than she actually is. I would've assumed it was you.
Liandrin: And what shall I do when I have her?
Lanfear: Kill her. Or next time I visit your dreams, you'll wish you had. You have until tomorrow.

: [spits]
: [door opens]
Liandrin: So, I'm going to show you something now the Chosen would prefer you didn't see. This is the Shackled Man. A statue older than Tanchico itself, but only part of it still stands at the docks. It's a man who can channel. Collared by two Aes Sedai. The sisters who found this bracelet confirm the second one and the collar are in the city but they never knew where. We have one part of three. So, dig harder. Search further. I need the collar and the second bracelet tomorrow. Or our master will be displeased.

Elayne: And the Blue sister?
Nynaeve: Ispan Shefar. Dark haired, with a white stripe. From Saldaea?
Elayne: No, that's Jeaine Caide. Of the Green.
: What does it matter? If we find Liandrin, we find them all.
Elayne: We're not here to find Liandrin, Nynaeve. We're here to find the Black Ajah. More importantly, the collar. If any of them get to it before we do, then Rand--
: No. We'll find it. Are you sure about this veil?
Mat: Ladies. Ready?
: [both laughing]
Elayne: It's the custom. Men too.
Min: Yeah, you might want to take it easy on those beads.
Nynaeve: What?
Min: The number of beads tell your price.
Mat: I admire the confidence, but I think this might be a bit more apt.
Elayne: Whatever the Black Ajah are doing, they won't be doing it lawfully. They'll need thieves, smugglers, criminals.
Nynaeve: So we'll go to the Night Market. Mat, you find a card game, start talking to people and see what you can find out. And, Min, you'll use your visions.
Elayne: Nynaeve and I will handle anything that requires a bit more subtlety.
Min: Is she always like this?
Mat: Oh, yeah. Both of them.

Bair: You promised not to enter Tel'aran'rhiod without us.
Melaine: An Aes Sedai cannot lie.
Egwene: Well, I'm not an Aes Sedai. I lied about that too. Look, I need to know how to stop her in Tel'aran'rhiod.
Bair: You cannot hope to match the Shadowsouled in Tel'aran'rhiod. But in your own dreams… That is where your power is strongest. There, we have the spear's edge of a chance.

Lanfear: You've been hiding from me. You're afraid of me now. What did you see in Rhuidean?
Moiraine: What do you want?
Lanfear: You're supposed to keep Egwene away from him.
Moiraine: I am. She won't budge if forced.
Lanfear: I worry that you're trying to stay useful to me so that I don't dispose of you. I'm sending a little surprise. Let him handle it. I know that's difficult for you.

Rand: Where are we going? I was looking for Egwene.
Aviendha: She's studying with the Wise Ones, learning about our people, as you should.
: [people chattering]
: [sighing] Oh.
Rand: Hmm. So this is how you grow food in the desert.
: Mmm. This overhang keeps the rocks in shade all day, so the water doesn't dry out.
: We know more than just how to dance the spears.
: Alsera?
Alsera: Rand al'Thor! These are my squashes. You see how fat they get?
: Mmm.
: Wow. You're taking very good care of them.
Alsera: I know.
Rand: I didn't realize Aiel were such good farmers. And good shepherds too, from the taste of that goat yesterday.
Alsera: My sister takes care of the goats. She's the goatherd. But what do shepherds take care of? Sheps?
Rand: [chuckles] Something like that.
: We can do some work together.
: What's this? Is this your shovel?
Alsera: No! That's my spear. I'm training to become a Maiden. You cannot touch it. You dishonor me, Rand al'Thor.
Rand: For dishonoring your ji, you have my toh.
Alsera: You will harvest my garden when they are ripe. Only then will your toh be repaid, Rand al'Thor.
Rand: Mm-hmm.
: [chuckles]
Rand: I could have used your help there.
: Mmm.
: You handled yourself well enough, wetlander.
: Well enough.

: [villagers clamoring]
villager: Perrin's hurt! Help him down.
Faile: Get him inside. Now.
: [Perrin grunting, panting]
: [winces, grunts]
Daise: What happened?
Faile: He's been stabbed.
: [Perrin panting]
Loial: Get Alanna Sedai. Quickly. He requires healing.
: [Perrin panting, grunting]
Faile: You'll be all right. You'll be fine. Hurry! We need her.
Marin: I'm afraid she's in no shape to heal anyone.
: [Alanna panting, groaning]
: [wincing, groaning]
Daise: This poultice will help ease the pain and slow the infection.
Perrin: The girls are here?
: But Natti…
Faile: My father, he always said a leader can either take care of the living or weep for the dead.
: Not both.
: [panting]
: [whistling]
: [whistling continues]
: [crowd cheers]
: What's a man to do to get a peek behind that veil?
: The best secret to reveal is the face behind a lady's veil…
: I know it's deadly as that of an Illuminator's spark.
: I bet the River Andahar that you don't know a thing about getting a woman to take off her veil.
: You speak like a true Taraboner.
: Why wouldn't I?
: Hailing from the Calpene as I do.
: Well, I'm just not sure that this is the right piece for me, but have you got any jewelry?
: Like, uh, a little collar?
: To match that bracelet I told you about.
: Something about here.
: For you? Or a lady friend?
Mat: Oh, right. This would be for a man. Big strong man such as myself.

: But I don't even know her. I just see her in the city center. Suppose she's doing some work on the old Lounalt estate.
Min: Mmm, right. So she's rich too. Good job, you. Right, so, that one was on me… but if you have any other friends who want to know what the future holds, you know where I am.
Nynaeve: Jeaine Caide marries that man?
Min: No. She kills him.

Liandrin enters the room as Nyomi brushes her hair.

Nyomi: Yes?
Liandrin: I saw the child bride today. Whatever you did to her mind, it was thorough. She seems… content.
Nyomi: In my experience, the happiest people are those that know the least.
Liandrin: Do you think you would be able to weave something more precise?

: Wha… What… Where did you get that?
: You're working at the Lounalt's?
: No.
: My dad runs a shop down the old docks.
: He's always piling stuff up.
: Said one day some of it would be worth something.
: Yeah. Well, today is your lucky day.
: Here. Take this.
: Thank you.
: I'm sorry. Um… Here.
Elayne: Is that the second bracelet?
: Are there two collars as well?
: For being such an expert in Tarabon history, I'm surprised you don't know about the Shackled Man of Tanchico.
: A statue down at the docks.
: Only the man remains, but it used to show two women wearing those bracelets, him on his knees, and a collar round his neck.
: [inhales]
: Who are you waiting for?
: Sammael?
: He'll do something soon.
: I know it.
: So impatient.
: Or is it Rahvin?
: Didn't he tell you it was dangerous, here in the world of dreams?
: Wait.
: You're…
: Who are you?
: I'm nothing.
: Just a spider you wipe off your skirt and never think about again.
: So, go on.
: Tell me what you came to tell Rahvin, and I'll report straightaway.
: [Ispan breathing heavily]
: [groaning]
: It's Liandrin.
: [stammers] Sh-She found out about Nyomi.
: S-She killed her.
: Sh-Sh-She wants to become a Forsaken.
: And two of the five the Dark One's hunting are in Tanchico.
: [screaming]
: [shrieks]
: [gasps]
: So, tomorrow we wait outside the Lounalt estate.
: And watch where Liandrin goes next.
: [chuckles]
: Oh, sorry. Um, we don't need anything.
: Thank you.
: But I do.
: Come here by the light, where I can see you both clearly.
: No more than girls, and barely trained.
: Strong through, both of you.
: You especially.
: [Nynaeve, Elayne giggling]
: You've blocked yourself.
: Why?
: I'm afraid of it.
: My power.
: All that power, I…
: I hate it, I think.
: Oh.
: [sighs]
: [sighs]
: In my time, we would've beaten that out of you.
: No matter.
: It serves me for the time being.
: [sighs]
: Come, sit.
: Are there any other Aes Sedai with you?
: It's just us.
: And we're not Aes Sedai.
: We're Accepted.
: Ah.
: There was no one else that Amyrlin could trust to find Liandrin and the Black Ajah.
: Oh.
: [Nynaeve chuckles]
: And what have you found out so far?
: Their names.
: Their names?
: [Elayne] Ispan Shefar…
: Ah.
: …Jeaine Caide, Nyomi--
: I know their names. Do you know what they're looking for?
: [chuckling]
: A Seanchan collar.
: [gasps]
Nynaeve: But this one is for a man.
: The Dragon Reborn, we think.
: [gasps]
: We can't let her collar Rand.
: No.
Nynaeve: Mmm.
: Do you know where he is?
: The Dragon?
Nynaeve: No…
: [gasps]
: …but we'd tell you if we did.
Elayne: Yes.
: Yeah.
: Have you found out anything else about this bracelet or collar?
: Huh?
: [chuckles]
: We found the second bracelet today.
: [Elayne giggles]
: Did you? [gasps]
: [Nynaeve giggles]
: Clever girls.
: [both chuckle]
: Go on. Fetch it for me.
: [sighs]
: [Moghedien, Nynaeve chuckling]
: [exhales sharply]
: [gasps]
: You're fighting me.
: Mmm.
: [gasps, chuckles]
: [Nynaeve, Elayne chuckling]
: [grunts]
: You should be proud.
: You did what the Black Ajah could not.
: Now, Rahvin wants you dead.
: My Gray Men have tried twice and missed, but I like it when he doesn't get what he wants.
: [Nynaeve, Elayne chuckle]
: And you…
: You've both proven yourself to be very useful to me tonight.
: Maybe I'll come back…
: Mm-hmm.
: …see you again.
: That would make us very happy.
: [Elayne] Yeah.
: Yeah.
: And you'll let me do whatever I want to you?
: Obey my every command?
: Good girl.
: [sinister music plays]
: [sighs]
: [all chuckling]
: You will remember nothing that happened here…
: Except that I came knocking on the wrong door, then went on my way.
: The wrong door, of course.
Nynaeve: Mmm.
: What were we talking about again?
: Um…
: I don't remember.
: We were on… the bed, I think, and then we…
: Um…
: Wait.
: There was a woman.
: Mmm.
: She had the wrong room and…
: She left.
: I think.
: Oh, my head is throbbing. [inhales sharply]
: Maybe we had too much to drink?
: Mmm.
: We should put the bracelet in a safe place.
: Elayne?
: The bracelet.
: Where is it?
: Nynaeve… [gasps] …your face.
: [breathing heavily]
: Egwene?
: She's a…
: She's a Forsaken, Rand.
: I should've told you.
: I'm sorry.
: Sorry for what, exactly?
: [inhales sharply]
: For lying to me?
: [sobs] For betraying my trust?
: Or for sleeping with a Forsaken?
: How could you be such a fool?
: There's so much that you don't understand.
: Oh.
: About me.
: About all of this.
: I wish you could.
: Understand?
: We came to the Waste to escape them.
: And this whole time, every night, you're with her.
: [sobs] I came here for you.
: You met the Wise Ones, and you haven't given me a second thought.
: That's what you do, and that's what you've always done.
: Do you love her? [sobs]
: [sniffles]
: It's already happened then?
: The madness.
: [chuckles, sniffs]
: If that's easier for you to swallow, then believe that.
: We both know the truth, Egwene.
: You don't want me.
: Even back in the Two Rivers.
: There was always something that you wanted more.
: And even now.
: I am… the Dragon Reborn.
: [sighs]
: I'm not enough.
: [emotional music plays]
: I'll always respect that about you.
: [sniffles]
: Did you know… what she was doing to me this whole time?
: Wha…
: What are you talking about?
: Don't lie to me, Rand.
: Don't lie to me.
: Egwene, I don't know what you're talking about.
: My dreams…
: Where the sul'dam tortured me…
: It was your Lanfear…
: It's been her this whole time.
: [Egwene breathing heavily]
: I didn't know.
: [both grunt]
: [grunts]
: [groans]
: [hooting]
: [clamoring]
: [gasps]
: You've gotten soft, Lews Therin.
: [grunts]
: [screams]
: [exclaims]
: [Aviendha yells]
: [Rand] Get out. Get out. Get out!
: [shouting]
: [coughing]
: [groaning, grunting]
: Alsera.
: She was upstairs.
: [Egwene coughs]
: [Rand] Alsera?
: [Rand breathing heavily]
: Alsera.
: Hey, Alsera.
: [sobs] Alsera.
: Alsera?
: Life is a dream from which we all must wake.
: No.
: No. [cries]
: [sniffles] Breathe.
: Breathe.
: [Rand breathing heavily]
: Breathe.
: Breathe!
: Rand… Rand, you can't. She-she's dead. Death can't be healed.
: I can do anything!
: What does the prophecy say?
: [sobbing] What does the prophecy…
: [chuckling]
: I bring destruction.
: But also creation.
: Breathe now, Alsera.
: Breathe.
: Breathe.
: Alsera, breathe.
: Rand.
: [Rand] Breathe.
: Rand, you cannot do this.
: Rand.
: [sighs]
: [emotional music plays]
: [gasps]
: [soldiers shouting]
: There must be hundreds.
Faile: This isn't a raiding party.
: This is an army.
: Soon, Goldeneyes will have to lead his people to war.
: Whether he wants to or not.
