Tarwin's Gap is a mountain pass near the Shienaran city of Fal Dara.[1]

Overview[]

Tarwin's Gap is the first line of defense against the Shadowspawn armies from the Blight. House Jagad of Fal Dara have held back Shadowspawn armies at Tarwin's Gap for many years.[2]

History[]

Season 1[]

When Rand al'Thor realizes that he is the Dragon Reborn, he and Moiraine Damodred venture past Tarwin's Gap into the Eye of the World, believing they will face the Dark One.[3] A great Shadowspawn army threatens to pour out of the Blight and attack Fal Dara, and Lord Agelmar Jagad prepares to ride for the Gap and defeat the Shadowspawn. He believes that the Last Battle has truly come, and admits that he is pessimistic about the fate of the city, but wishes to do all he can to save humanity and the forces of the Light.

At the Gap, Lord Agelmar's armies fire at the Shadowspawn. Some are defeated, but the Shadowspawn overwhelm the Shienaran fortifications there. Many move past these fortifications to be met by Lady Amalisa Jagad, who is linked with Egwene al'Vere, Nynaeve al'Meara, a Shienaran channeler, and a Malkieri refugee. The five women unleash a great blast of channeling that defeats the Shadowspawn armies, but Amalisa cannot let go, and begins to burn up, gravely wounding all but Egwene, who turns her attention to Healing Nynaeve.[2]
