Ta'veren (Old Tongue for Pattern-changers) are individuals around whom the Wheel of Time weaves the Great Pattern.[1]
Overview[]
When the Wheel of Time needs to mend or realign the Pattern, it creates ta'veren: bending a person's life-thread in such a way that all surrounding threads are forced to swirl around it. This creates a ripple effect across the Pattern, making the person a focal point in the weave. People who are ta'veren find themselves at the center of strange and improbable events, both good and bad.[1]
Ta'veren are exceptionally rare, with only one or two being born every generation.[2]
History[]
Season 1[]
Moiraine Damodred and Lan Mandragoran decide to travel to the Two Rivers in hopes of finding the Dragon Reborn after hearing rumors of four ta'veren in the region via Moiraine's eyes-and-ears network.[3][4]
It is believed that Mat Cauthon's probable ta'veren nature allows him to survive the corruption of the ruby-hilted dagger for Shadar Logoth for an unusually long period of time.[5]
In Fal Dara, Padan Fain confirms that Rand al'Thor, Mat Cauthon, Perrin Aybara, Egwene al'Vere, and Nynaeve al'Meara are all ta'veren, commenting on the extremely unusual nature of five all being born around the same time, and growing up in the same village.[2]

- — Padan Fain to Perrin Aybara, 1.08 The Eye of the World
You're ta'veren. All five of you, focal points for the Wheel. Usually there's only one, maybe two in a generation, but... five of you in one village. That's what Moiraine saw. What my Lord saw.
Changes from the book series[]
Ta'veren are adapted from the concept of the same name (book spoilers!) from the book series.
- In the book series, Egwene and Nynaeve are not ta'veren.
