Shohreh Aghdashloo

Shohreh Aghdashloo is a prominent actress who is anticipated to appear in Prime Video's The Wheel of Time.

An official casting has not been announced. In May 2023, Aghdashloo was spotted on a season 3 film set.[1] An exchange between Aghdashloo and showrunner Rafe Judkins on Twitter in December 2021 indicated that she may portray the character Cadsuane Melaidhrin.[2] In September 2023, WoT Up! reported that Shohreh Aghdashloo would portray Elaida do Avriny a'Roihan.[3]

General overview[]

Aghdashloo is best known for portraying Chrisjen Avasarala in The Expanse (2015-2022), Farah Madani in The Punisher (2017), Commodore Paris in Star Trek Beyond (2016), and Dina Araz in 24 (2005).

Prior to December 2021, fans of The Wheel of Time on Twitter had long been posting that Aghdashloo would be a good choice to portray Cadsuane in the show. On December 18, 2021, Aghdashloo responded to a fan's tweet and pinged showrunner Rafe Judkins, who said that Aghdashloo's "been on [his] mood board for a certain character since 2018", and the two began DMing to discuss. The discussions inspired fan speculation and commentary that fans manifested the casting of Shohreh Aghdashloo as Cadsuane.[4]

On July 30, 2022, professional artist Ariel Burgess redid her official art of Cadsuane to resemble Aghdashloo in the role.[5] Aghdashloo responded the following day, mentioning the official art and thanking everyone for the support.[6]

In May 2023, Shohreh Aghdashloo was spotted on a Wheel of Time season 3 film set, but her role remained unknown.[1] On September 11, 2023, WoT Up! reported that they had received documentation that Shohreh Aghdashloo would portray Elaida do Avriny a'Roihan "in season 3 and beyond."[3]

Aghdashloo is not yet officially cast in any role in The Wheel of Time. Aghdashloo continues to make encouraging statements about the possibility as of February 2023.[6][7]
