The Seated man sa'angreal is a rare and powerful sa'angreal able to be used by male channelers.

Overview[]

The jade carving of a seated man is a powerful sa'angreal. It is believed that it was made by many male Aes Sedai during the Age of Legends.[1]

History[]

Moiraine Damodred obtained this sa'angreal at some unknown point. She took it with her when leaving the White Tower for her quest to find the Dragon Reborn.[2]

Season 1[]

While in the Blight and on their way to the Eye of the World, Rand al'Thor asks Moiraine what her plan is after he has informed her that he truly is the Dragon Reborn. She presents him with the powerful sa'angreal, instructing him to use it to seal the Dark One away in his prison for another Age when they reach the Eye. Rand wishes to learn to channel more, but Moiraine tells him he must not risk being corrupted by the Dark One's touch, and must reach for the sa'angreal when the time is right.

At the Eye, Rand is taken into an imaginary space controlled by The Man. Though Rand is tempted to make the reality where he is married to Egwene real, he instead reaches for the sa'angreal in his pocket and banishes the Forsaken, believing he has defeated the Dark One.[1]

Changes from the book series[]

The seated man sa'angreal appears to be inspired by the fat bald man angreal Booklink (book spoilers!) from the book series.

  • In the book series, the item is found at a later point of the series. It is also only an angreal, and is not considered a sa'angreal.
  • In the book series, the item is described as a fat bald man holding a sword.
