The Wheel of Time did not have a presence at SDCC 2023. The only promotion for the series at the event was a large poster on the side of the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina hotel next to the convention center.
The Wheel of Time was scheduled to have a panel and autograph signings at SDCC on Thursday, July 20, 2023.[1][2] Who would be in attendance was not revealed.
The week before SDCC on Wednesday, July 12, SAG-AFTRA (the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) went on strike, and its members would no longer perform or do any promotion for their films or series. Panels and events at SDCC quickly began to be cancelled as actors could not attend. The day after the announcement, on July 13, the panel for The Wheel of Time was listed as cancelled on the SDCC schedule.[3][4][5] The day after that, on July 14, the autograph signings were also listed as cancelled.[6][5]
