The Oath Rod is a ter'angreal that binds the Aes Sedai to the unbreakable Three Oaths.[1]
Overview[]
The Oath Rod is a ter'angreal with the use of making oaths which are physically impossible for a channeler to break. When an Accepted is raised to Aes Sedai, she swears the Three Oaths upon the Oath Rod.[2]
History[]
The Oath Rod's modern use was developed after Artur Hawkwing laid siege to the White Tower, and the Aes Sedai chose to be bound to the Three Oaths in order to lift the siege.[3]
Season 1[]
When Moiraine Damodred is exiled from the White Tower by the judgement of the Amyrlin Seat, Siuan Sanche, she is made to swear on the Oath Rod itself. Moiraine repeats the words that Siuan makes her say, though with the adjustment of a personal oath to Siuan herself.[4]
