Marin al'Vere is a character in The Wheel of Time television series portrayed by Lolita Chakrabarti.
Marin is the wife of Bran al'Vere and the mother of Egwene. She and her husband run the Winespring Inn.[1]
History[]
Early life[]
Marin is the wife of Bran al'Vere and the mother of Egwene. The family owns the Winespring Inn in Emond's Field, and their profession makes them one of the wealthiest in the Two Rivers. The family could always afford many more comforts and privileges than other families, and they lived in relative luxury.[2]
When Egwene was a child, Marin said something upsetting to her, and she tried to run away with Rand. They made it as far as the Waterwood and slept there for the night, but in the morning they decided to return home.[3]
Activities[]
Season 1[]
On the morning of Winternight, Marin joins the Women's Circle in welcoming Egwene, and proudly looks on as her daughter's hair is braided and Nynaeve gives a speech about its importance in their community.
She returns to the Winespring Inn with her daughter later on, and Daise Conger orders a drink so that Egwene can celebrate with the women. In the evening, she takes over from her husband, who has been working in the morning and afternoon.. When others are drinking and making merry in the inn, everyone goes silent after a mysterious man enters the inn, followed by a woman. The man introduces himself as Lan Mandragoran, and the woman as Moiraine. Marin asks the woman if she needs help, and by her ring, Marin realizes that Moiraine is an Aes Sedai after she requests a room for the night and stables for their horses. As the inn begins to murmur about the woman, she ushers the Aes Sedai to her quarters.[1]
Relationships[]
Marin is proud of her daughter, especially when she is welcomed into the Women's Circle. Egwene and her mother held onto one another for the sake of their lives during the Shadowspawn attack on Bel Tine.
Physical appearance[]
Marin is a woman with medium-dark skin. She has long, dark brown hair, worn in a braid as is custom for a woman of the Two Rivers. She often wears jewelry.
