The City of Manetheren (Old Tongue for Mountain Home) was the capital of the nation of the same name. It was one of the greatest and most prosperous cities to rise after the Breaking of the World, until its destruction during the Trolloc Wars.

Pre-series[]
After the Breaking of the World, the City of Manetheren was one of the greatest in the world.
During the Trolloc Wars, the entirety of the Shadow's forces were sent against the nation. In the city, Queen Eldrene organized her people to evacuate with the children and hide in the mountain keeps, though many chose to fight with the army. On the thirteenth day of fighting, the army of Manetheren was destroyed. When Queen Eldrene felt her husband die, she drew on the One Power and destroyed the Trolloc army by setting it alight, though she had drawn too much on the power and was burnt through, completely destroying the city.[1][2]
Season 1[]
While traveling from the Two Rivers, Mat Cauthon begins singing a song about Manetheren. After the song, Moiraine Damodred tells them the history of Manetheren, including the destruction of the city.[1]
