Maigan is a character in The Wheel of Time television series portrayed by Sandy McDade.

Maigan is an Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah, and is a Sitter in the Hall of the Tower.

History[]

Early life[]

Maigan was born somewhere in the Westlands. She studied at the White Tower in Tar Valon, and was eventually raised to Aes Sedai, choosing the Blue Ajah. She was eventually selected as a Sitter for the Blue Ajah in the Hall of the Tower.

Season 1[]

After hearing that Moiraine sank the Taren Ferry through her eyes and ears network, Maigan has the Blue Ajah send money on Moiraine's behalf.

Maigan is present when Siuan Sanche calls Moiraine Damodred, Liandrin Guirale, Alanna Mosvani, and other sisters in the company of the late Kerene Nagashi to the Hall of the Tower to answer for the illegal gentling of Logain Ablar. After Logain is escorted away from the Hall, Liandrin begins to bring up the purpose of Moiraine's absences from the Tower, noting that Logain's army and the Trolloc invasion of the Two Rivers occurred without the warning of Moiraine. Maigan tells the Amyrlin that the matter is Blue business and is not for scrutiny in the Hall, but Liandrin responds that all business is judged in the Hall, unless Maigan is to suggest that Siuan does not wish to question Moiraine due to being raised from the Blue Ajah, and the Hall is shocked by the accusation. Siuan interrogates Moiraine to no avail, and lets her know she will be punished.

Maigan manages to corner Moiraine as she is bathing, telling her she wished she took meetings in the Tower, and warning her of her fate after her display in the Hall. She tells her that Siuan is losing her grip, and exasperatedly notes that the world has gone mad, as both Alanna and Moiraine spoke on behalf of a Red. She tells Moiraine stories of ships disappearing on the western coast, of Aiel coming over the Spine of the World, and Trollocs in the Two Rivers. Maigan asks Moiraine what she is doing, though the other woman gives her an imprecise answer about delivering a powerful channeler such as Nynaeve. She tells Moiraine that even if she hates Siuan, she was once a Blue, and they must stand as a united front, promising to speak to Siuan on Moiraine's behalf. She tells Moiraine she must stay in the Tower permanently if she goes west to track the ships, and tells her to settle down in the Tower.

Due to Maigan's orders, Moiraine privately asks Siuan to exile her from the Tower. Maigan is present in the Hall when Siuan sentences Moiraine to exile, and is shocked to see this transpire.[1]

Season 2[]

Maigan, Ryma, and two other Aes Sedai went to Toman Head to investigate the rumors of strange beasts and channelers kept as slaves. They encountered the Seanchan armies there, and realized that they had gravely underestimated the threat. Two Aes Sedai were killed, while Maigan was captured and enslaved as a damane. Ryma kept Maigan's Great Serpent ring so that she could take it back to the White Tower to burn, as would traditionally be done if an Aes Sedai died.

Maigan is kept in the Falme kennels. When Egwene al'Vere arrives at the kennels, she hears Maigan murmuring the basic rules of damane training from the other side of the wall. After Egwene finally breaks and can drink from her water pitcher without imagining as a weapon, Maigan tells Egwene she is strong. Maigan says Egwene she lasted longer than herself, and she was a Sitter of the Blue Ajah.[2]

She is one of the Damane, who are pulled by their Suldams to the Tower of Falme's top. When the tower is hit by a Trebuchet ball from the Whitecloaks, Maigan is hurt, and most likely dead. (Transcript: "Maigan lies in the rubble.")

Physical appearance[]

Maigan is a fair-skinned woman with short brown hair. She often wears blue, the color of her Ajah.

Changes from the book series[]

Maigan is an adaptation of the character of the same name Booklink (book spoilers!) from the book series.

  • Sitter: Maigan is not a Sitter at the beginning of the book series. There is one unnamed Sitter from the Blue Ajah, but it is impossible for her to be Maigan. However, Maigan is very politically influential in the Blue Ajah in the book series.
