Luthair Paendrag is a figure relevant to the histories of both the Westlands and Seanchan.[1]
History[]
Luthair Paendrag was from the Westlands, but sailed across the Aryth Ocean and became important in the histories of Seanchan and its empire. The modern Seanchan thus claim that they are the true rulers of the Westlands, justifying their Return in an attempt to conquer the continent.[1]
Season 2[]
Alwhin speaks for High Lady Suroth when she addresses the defeated people of Atuan's Mill, and claims that they have forgotten the past. Alwhin explains that the Seanchan, as the successors of Luthair Paendrag, are the rightful rulers of the Westlands. She thus uses this to demand that everyone present swear allegiance to the Seanchan.[1]

People of Atuan's Mill, you have forgotten your history. You squat on stolen land. Land which once belonged to us, and will be ours once again. When the fleet of Luthair Paendrag crossed the Aryth Ocean, the return was promised. Today is that day.
