Lolita Chakrabarti is an English actress who portrayed Marin al'Vere in season 1 of The Wheel of Time television series. The role of Marin has reportedly been recast for season 3 due to schedule conflicts, and actress Rina Mahoney will be taking on the role.[1]
General overview[]
Prior to The Wheel of Time, Lolita Chakrabarti was known for portraying Lila in 11 episodes of the TV series Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands (2016), Health Centre Nurse in the film Venus (2006), and Dr. Surinder Dhillon in six episodes of the TV series Fortysomething (2003). Chakrabarti is also well-known for her theatrical work.
On June 24, 2020, Chakrabarti's casting as Marin al'Vere was officially announced on Twitter.[2]
On February 17, 2021, The Times reported in an interview with Chakrabarti that she had filmed "a small role" in The Wheel of Time that would "become a larger one if and when it reaches its third season."[3][4]
However, on October 10, 2023, WoT Series reported that Lolita Chakrabarti was not returning for season 3, with actress Rina Mahoney taking on the role of Marin al'Vere. Chakrabarti's publicist told WoTSeries that "due to a clash of timings of her projects in the West End and on Broadway as a playwright, sadly she was unable to continue her role as Marin al’Vere in Wheel of Time."[1]
