Ghealdan is one of the nations in the Westlands. It is a relatively small kingdom at the foothills of the Mountains of Mist, where war has broken out.[1]

Overview[]

Ghealdan is a small country that runs along the foothills of the Mountains of Mist. Its government is a hereditary monarchy that has gender-equal succession. The monarch is advised by an influential council of nobles and merchants.[2]

History[]

Since around the late 920s NE, Ghealdan has been protecting itself from being absorbed by its larger neighbor, Amadicia, the seat of the infamous Children of the Light.[2]

Activities[]

A minor Ghealdanin nobleman, Logain Ablar, develops the ability to channel, being extremely strong in the One Power. He declares himself the Dragon Reborn, and is stripped of his titles by the lords of Ghealdan.[3] However, the charismatic Logain manages to recruit an army of ten thousand soldiers. When he attacks the king's keep, he is able to convince the sovereign to join his cause after he spares the monarch, and Heals him using the One Power.

The Aes Sedai are sent against Logain's army, and capture him by shielding him during the night as he sleeps, and plan to bring him back to Tar Valon to be gentled. On the road, Logain's followers attack the Aes Sedai camp, including the king, and Logain manages to break free and kill Kerene Nagashi and grievously wound many Aes Sedai and Warders, though his followers are defeated at the hands of Alanna Mosvani and other Aes Sedai and Warders. However, after Nynaeve al'Meara manages to Heal everyone by channeling for the first time, the Aes Sedai link and successfully gentle Logain.
