Falme is a large town on Toman Head. It is the first major settlement captured by the Seanchan as part of the Hailene, and has become their first base of operations in the Westlands.

It plays a large role in the events of season 2.[1]

Overview[]

Falme is the largest town on Toman Head. The surrounding area is disputed by other nations; Arad Doman to the north and Tarabon to the south. Falme has thus traditionally governed itself independently, although it has not been large enough to have been considered a true city-state like Tar Valon.[2]

History[]

Season 2[]

Falme has been captured by the Seanchan as part of the Hailene, the preliminary phase of their Return to the Westlands. High Lord Turak is the highest-ranking member of the Seanchan Blood in the town, and is the overall royal commander of the Hailene. He receives High Lady Suroth in Falme when she returns from Atuan's Mill, and reprimands her for venturing so far from the area that the Seanchan could control. Loial and Ingtar Shinowa are also presented in Falme as da'covale slaves. Ishamael and Padan Fain are also there to present the Horn of Valere to High Lord Turak.

Nynaeve al'Meara and Elayne Trakand enter Falme after managing to escape the Seanchan in a skirmish at a nearby Waygate. They are seized by Ryma and Basan, an Aes Sedai and her Warder, respectively, who have been hiding from the Seanchan in Falme. Meanwhile, Egwene al'Vere is collared by an a'dam and made damane by the Seanchan.[3] Renna supervises Egwene's initial training in the kennels, forcing her to use the One Power to destroy a tree while also trying to utterly break her and make her conform to the damane system. Maigan is also present in the kennels, as she was captured in an Aes Sedai mission to the western coast.

Loial and Ingtar plan to steal the Horn from Turak's possessions. Meanwhile, Nynaeve and Elayne work with Ryma to try and decipher the a'dam. They make some progress, but damane come looking for a woman who can channel, and Ryma chooses to sacrifice herself. Basan is killed in the fighting, and Ryma is devastated when she is collared and made damane.[4]
