Faile Bashere is a character in season 3 of The Wheel of Time television series, portrayed by Isabella Bucceri.
Faile is a Hunter of the Horn who has been helping the people of the Two Rivers take a stand against Trollocs and Whitecloaks. Her name means Falcon in the Old Tongue.
History[]
Early life[]
Faile was born to a military family in Saldaea. Both her parents served as generals in the army. One day, her mother told her that she was a Darkfriend, and that she also wanted Faile to swear Dark Oaths. Faile refused, but her brother tried to put a stop to their mother, and was killed by her.[1]
Faile then left Saldaea, and set out to hunt the Horn of Valere. She and Lord Luc, another Hunter, met up in the Two Rivers after the Whitecloaks had moved in to deal with the Trolloc attacks.
Season 3[]
Faile and Lord Luc come to the Winespring Inn, and tell Marin al'Vere that the Whitecloaks have arrested Natti Cauthon and her two daughters, Bode and Eldrin. She is curious about Perrin Aybara, since the Whitecloaks have been looking for him and allege he is a Darkfriend. She tells him that Natti and her girls are being held at the Whitecloaks' camp at Watch Hill.
Faile watches the Two Rivers folk stick up for Perrin outside the Winespring. She later jokes to Perrin that she has never seen someone try to turn themselves in and fail. She tells Perrin that she has heard a lot about him. Perrin asks for her name, and Faile says she is called Mandarb, meaning blade in the Old Tongue. Perrin laughs, telling her that his friend Lan has a horse called Mandarb.
Faile returns to Perrin after he tells the Two Rivers folk to stay and fight. She warns him that he risks dying if he goes to save the Cauthons from the Whitecloaks, though Perrin shows her that he is determined. Before leaving, Perrin asks for her real name, and she says she is called Faile.[2]

- Showrunner Rafe Judkins said that Faile is both a favorite and least favorite character of his, and promised that she would be "awesome" in the show.[3]
- In February 2023, WoT Up! reported that Faile would be introduced in season 2,[4] although this turned out to be untrue.
- In August 2023, WoT Up! reported that Faile would be portrayed by actress Isabella Bucceri and that she would be appearing in season 3.[5]
