History[]
Along with the rest of the Two Rivers, the location that would later become Emond's Field was part of the territory of Manetheren before its destruction in the Trolloc Wars.[3] The village later become an extremely remote part of Andor.[4]
Tam al'Thor was born in Emond's Field, though left as a young man. He rose to the rank of blademaster, and achieved the rank of Second Captain in the Illianer Companions. During the Aiel War, he adopted an orphaned Aiel child with his wife Kari al'Thor; a boy named Rand, who was in fact the Dragon Reborn.[5] Rand returned to a farm on the outskirts of Emond's Field. At some point, Rand, as well as four of his friends from the village, Mat Cauthon, Perrin Aybara, Egwene al'Vere, and Nynaeve al'Meara, all manifested as ta'veren. This was an unprecedented occurence, with only one or two ta'veren being born in every generation, and led to the village being frequented by the Darkfriend peddler, Padan Fain.[6]
Season 1[]
On Winternight, Egwene is initiated into the Women's Circle by the Wisdom of the Two Rivers, Nynaeve. Moiraine Damodred and Lan Mandragoran arrive in the Winespring Inn in the evening, having heard rumors of ta'veren, and the locals are surprised to see a Warder and an Aes Sedai in the area.
The following day is Bel Tine, but just as the merriment begins, a horde of Trollocs attacks the village, killing and wounding many of the locals. While some villagers manage to take down Shadowspawn, the majority of the constructs are defeated when Moiraine channels the One Power. During the attack, Laila Dearn is killed when Perrin mistakes her for a Trolloc, Tam is wounded by Trolloc poison, and Nynaeve is presumed dead when she is dragged away. Moiraine Heals Tam, before gathering the remaining ta'veren and informing them that they must come with her at once, as one is the Dragon Reborn. The party leaves the Two Rivers at once, while Nynaeve manages to escape from the Trolloc, and tracks the group to Shadar Logoth.[2][3][7]

Changes from the book series[]
Emond's Field is an adaptation of the village of the same name (book spoilers!) from the book series.
- Common reference - In the books, Emond's Field is referred to quite often. The television series instead refers to the whole region of the Two Rivers. Consultant Sarah Nakamura indicated that this was due to the evocative imagery of two rivers.[10]
