Dragonmount is a towering volcano that overlooks Tar Valon.
History[]
Dragonmount was created during the early stages of the Breaking of the World, after saidin had been corrupted by the Dark One. After Lews Therin Telamon was released from his madness and realized he had slaughtered his entire family, he drew on an excessive amount of the One Power. The Dragon was vaporized by a pillar of white-hot energy that split open the Earth, breaking its crust and causing the volcanic eruption of Dragonmount.[1]
The Battle of the Shining Walls, which ended the Aiel War, was fought on Dragonmount. During the fighting, a heavily pregnant Maiden of the Spear, Tigraine Mantear, defeated several Illianer soldiers before being mortally wounded. Tam al'Thor discovered her, and helped her deliver her son, the Dragon Reborn. Tigraine passed away, and Tam raised the boy, Rand, as his own.[2]
