Doral Barran was the Wisdom of the Two Rivers preceding Nynaeve al'Meara.[1]
History[]
When Doral was thirteen, she realized she could "listen to the wind", and went to the White Tower of Tar Valon on foot, a journey which took her months. According to Nynaeve al'Meara, the Aes Sedai turned her away due to her poverty and low class, and Doral never forgot the incident.[2]
She returned to the Two Rivers and became the region's Wisdom. At some point, she visited a homestead near the Two Rivers where the village had been attacked. She found an infant child, Nynaeve al'Meara, and Doral brought her up as if she were her own daughter.[3][1] Nynaeve would also become Doral's apprentice as she grew up.[4]
Around 988 NE, Bran and Marin al'Vere brought their daughter, Egwene, to Doral and Nynaeve. Breakbone fever had already set into Egwene's muscles, and were cramping so badly that her legs were already bending backwards on themselves. Doral did not know what to do, so she started making a tea to ease Egwene's passing. However, Nynaeve refused to give up on her, so she stayed with Egwene the whole night. Egwene refused Doral's tea, and by the morning, her fever had broken.[4]
When Doral passed away, Nynaeve succeeded her as Wisdom, becoming the youngest that the Two Rivers had ever known.[1]
