After leaving the White Tower, Mat and Min stop at an inn in the Cairhien countryside.[1] They drink and play dice, and Min wins all of Mat's money. Mat flirts, suggesting that Min gets them a room, and playfully says he's tired and can't move. Min says she'll get them another round "and rooms, plural." Min pays for the drinks and tells the bartender that she wants the room in the attack, and that someone will be meeting her there.[2]
While sleeping, Min is pulled into a dream that her aunts wake her and force her back to work,[3] and Min is horrified by the visions she sees on her customers who want her to tell them their futures. Ishamael appears, and everyone else and the visions disappear.[4] Min asks who he is and he reveals he's one of the Forsaken. Min is in denial because "Liandrin wouldn't", but Ishamael points out that Liandrin promised to take away Min's visions, and this isn't something an Aes Sedai could do. Min refuses to help him and tries to get up, but he uses his power to force her to sit back down. Min still tries to stand up to him, but he tells her to take Mat to the city of Cairhien if she wants him to take away her curse. Crying, Min asks what's in Cairhien, and Ishamael smiles.[5]
