To channel is to access and wield the One Power (i.e. to perform magic). A person who can channel is called a channeler. A major group of channelers are the Aes Sedai, which is an all-female organization.
Men who channel go mad due to a corruption of the One Power by the Dark One. The act of permanently cutting a person off from the One Power, and thus removing their ability to channel, is known as severing or gentling. The Aes Sedai find and gentle men who can channel to avoid another Breaking of the World.

Trivia[]
- While several Aes Sedai, including Moiraine, are shown channeling in the first episode, the noun channeler is first used in the second episode, and the verb channeling is first used in the third episode.
- When Egwene channels, the soundtrack accompanies it with the sound of running water, like a river. This happened when Moiraine guided her channeling in season 1 episode 2 Shadow's Waiting, and when she channeled to free Perrin in episode 5 Blood Calls Blood. This is likely a reference or comparison to her drifting in the river in the first episode Leavetaking. The comparison for a woman channeling and calm river waters was also made in The Wheel of Time Origins episode Saidin, Saidar, Stone. This was also a comparison made throughout the book series.
