Callandor is an object of power first mentioned in season 3 of The Wheel of Time TV series. It is a sword-like sa'angreal held in the Stone of Tear, and it is part of the prophecies of the Dragon Reborn.

Callandor is for use by male channelers; the equivalent for women is the Sakarnen.

Overview[]

History[]

Pre-series[]

Callandor was allegedly put into the Stone of Tear 3,000 years ago by the previous Dragon Lews Therin Telamon. No one has ever been able to remove it.[1]

Callandor is part of the prophecies of the Dragon Reborn, saying that the Dragon Reborn will claim the sword.[1]

Season 3[]

Both Moiraine and Lanfear want Rand to go to Tear and take Callandor from the Stone, but Rand is hesitant to do so. He points out to Moiraine that a trap could be waiting for him there. While reviewing the prophecies with Loial, Elayne enters and tells him that if he takes Callandor and the Stone of Tear, then Tear will be the first nation he conquers, but not the last.[1]
