An annoying old man (originally named Cenn Buie) is a character in The Wheel of Time television series portrayed by David Sterne. He is a grumpy man from Emond's Field.

Early life[]
The man was born and raised in the Two Rivers.
Season 1[]
The man is in the Winespring Inn on Winternight, drinking and laughing with the other patrons. When the Aes Sedai, Moiraine Damodred, enters the inn with her Warder, Lan Mandragoran, the man and the rest of the patrons go silent at seeing the strangers in the Two Rivers.[1]
When the Trollocs attack during Bel Tine the following night, the man is injured. Nynaeve and Egwene pull him away from the fighting and treat his injuries. Nynaeve assures him that they got the bleeding to stop, but it's not enough, and the man dies.[1]

Trivia[]
- The character was initially named Cenn Buie; the show's official Twitter account announced on June 24, 2020, that actor David Sterne would portray Cenn Buie.[2] The character was credited as "annoying old man," and season 3 introduced a new character named Cenn Buie.
- In November 2023, a leaked audition script led to speculation that the character Cenn Buie might be introduced as a new character in season 3, and that the character "annoying old man" portrayed by David Sterne was no longer intended to be Cenn Buie.[3]
