An angreal (Old Tongue for object of the power to channel) is an object of the One Power that allows a channeler to draw in much more of the One Power than they would typically be capable of.[1]
Overview[]
An angreal enhances the strength of a channeler. An angreal that allows a channeler to access an extremely vast amount of the One Power is known as a sa'angreal.[1][2]
There are also ter'angreal, but ter'angreal do not enhance the strength of channeling, but are instead objects of the One Power that have a specific function or purpose.[1]
The making of angreal, sa'angreal, and ter'angreal appears to be a lost art from the Age of Legends, and the methods to make new angreal appear to be lost in the Third Age. This makes them even more rare and precious items.[2]
Angreal also appear to be specific to the two halves of the One Power; saidin for male channelers, and saidar for female channelers.[2]
