Amanda Kate Shuman is a writer and co-executive producer for The Wheel of Time television series. Her involvement in the series was announced on July 30, 2018, when showrunner Rafe Judkins released the title page for the second episode on social media, which credited Shuman as the writer.[2]
General overview[]
Prior to The Wheel of Time, Shuman was best known for writing episodes for Berlin Station (2016, 3 episodes), The Blacklist (2013-2015, 30 episodes), The Following (2013, 2 episodes), and Chuck (2011, 2 episodes).
On May 3, 2023, Rafe Judkins highlighted Amanda Kate Shuman's involvement with The Wheel of Time in a Twitter thread to show what she brought to the series. Shuman was working with The Wheel of Time "from the very first days" in 2017. Shuman and Judkins broke down the first book The Eye of the World together to make it work as a season. Shuman had not read the books before then, so she brought the perspective of a non-reader, which helped them ensure the show also worked for non-readers. In 2019, Shuman helped scout filming locations in Prague, and she attended production meetings, casting sessions, and chemistry reads. In 2020, when COVID caused shutdowns and required massive script changes, Shuman assisted in major rewrites.[3]
Amanda Kate Shuman did not write an episode for The Wheel of Time season 3,[4] but she remained on as an executive producer.[5]
