Lady Amalisa Jagad is a character in The Wheel of Time television series portrayed by Sandra Yi Sencindiver.
History[]
Early life[]
Amalisa Jagad was born to the ruling family of Fal Dara, House Jagad. As a child, she showed a talent for channeling, and studied at the White Tower in Tar Valon.[1] However, she was too weak to become an Aes Sedai, though was given the Great Serpent ring of the Accepted, without the Ajah stone of the Aes Sedai.
After being put out of the Tower, Amalisa returned to Fal Dara. She took up the majority of the city's governance, while her brother Agelmar concerned himself with the defense of the city.[1] Amalisa remained a strong ally of the White Tower, and often spoke in favor of the Aes Sedai. She came to know the Andoran woman Min Farshaw when she came to work in Fal Dara, and became aware of her extremely rare and unusual abilities to see glimpses of the Pattern.[2]
Season 1[]
Amalisa is present when her brother welcomes Lan Mandragoran back to Fal Dara with his companions. She seems somewhat annoyed when Agelmar supposes that Amalisa has written to the Tower asking them for aid, when he tells Moiraine Damodred that Fal Dara needs no additional support from the Aes Sedai.
After her brother apologizes for his demeanor and welcomes Moiraine and Lan's companions to the city, Amalisa escorts Moiraine to her chambers, and channels to light the candles. Moiraine asks to see Min, and Amalisa agrees, though is curious as to why the Aes Sedai wishes to see the Seer. They joke for a time about Agelmar's demeanor, and Amalisa questions her about Moiraine's presence of the Ways. Moiraine asks if she can trust Amalisa's discretion, and the lady responds that her true allegiance is to the city, rather than the Amyrlin Seat. Moiraine tells her to send a message to the Red Ajah to find Mat Cauthon.[2]
When Rand al'Thor goes into the Blight with Moiraine after revealing himself as the Dragon Reborn to her, a great army of Shadowspawn threatens to attack. Amalisa helps Agelmar to change into his own armor, rather than their father's, as he prepares to ride to Tarwin's Gap. Agelmar is sure they can handle it, but Amalisa notes that the army is five times the size of what they have dealt with before. Her brother admits his wrongdoing in not asking the White Tower for aid sooner, and is sure that the Last Battle is here, but resolves to do as much good as they can for the world.
After Agelmar and most of the men leave for Tarwin's Gap, Amalisa commands the defense of the city itself, and dons the family armor of House Jagad. She organizes the defenders to be ready for the approach, before sending word for all female channelers to meet her outside the city. She is joined by a Shienaran woman, a Malkieri refugee, and Moiraine's two young companions, Egwene al'Vere and Nynaeve al'Meara. Amalisa links with the four other women, and releases a great surge of channeling when the Shadowspawn approach, which defeats the enemy. However, Amalisa cannot let go of the One Power, and threatens to kill all the other women. She is badly burnt, though Nynaeve shields Egwene from the blast, and Egwene Heals Nynaeve of her injuries.[3]

Amalisa is a channeler. She does have a modest amount of talent, but was too weak to ever become an Aes Sedai.[2][1]

Changes from the book series[]
Amalisa is an adaptation of the character of the same name 
(book spoilers!) from the book series.
- Channeling: Amalisa was not a channeler in the book series, and never trained at the White Tower. This part of her backstory is more similar to the Arafellin noblewoman Sarainya Vostovan
(book spoilers!) from the book series, who became an Accepted but was not strong enough to become Aes Sedai. - Lady of Fal Dara: Amalisa is not considered co-ruler of Fal Dara in the book series.
