Ajah is the name given to one of the seven different groups of Aes Sedai: the Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, White, Gray, and Brown.

Some believe that there is a hidden Black Ajah devoted to the Dark One, but this is heavily denied by the White Tower.[1]

List of Ajahs[]

Red Ajah

The Red Ajah's purpose is to prevent misuse of the One Power.[2] Due to the corruption on saidin in the Third Age, this often means that their primary duty is hunting down rogue male channelers.[3] They are the only Ajah to never bond Warders.[4]

Green Ajah

The Green Ajah are warriors pledged to fight in the name of the Light during the Last Battle.[2] They go to war against Shadowspawn or rogue channelers when required by the Tower. They are the only Ajah to bond multiple Warders.[4]

Gray Ajah

The Gray Ajah is focused on diplomacy, politics, and negotiation.[3]

Brown Ajah

The Brown Ajah is dedicated to the collection of knowledge.[3]

Yellow Ajah

The Yellow Ajah is devoted to Healing with the One Power.[3]

Blue Ajah

The Blue Ajah are dedicated to causes of justice and righteousness. They are masters of intrigue, and have the largest eyes-and-ears network out of any Ajah.[3]

White Ajah

The White Ajah is dedicated to logic and philosophy.[3]

Ajah relations[]

  • The Red and the Green Ajah have a traditionally strained relationship, as they consider one another to have major, fundamental differences.[5]

Trivia[]

Changes from the book series[]

The Ajahs are adapted from the groups of the same name Booklink (book spoilers!) from the book series.

  • Colored clothing: The custom for Aes Sedai to almost always wear colors that correspond to their Ajah is much stronger in the television series than in the books. In the books, Aes Sedai wearing Ajah colors almost all the time only occurs during very sectarian periods of White Tower history.
