Lord Agelmar Jagad is a character in The Wheel of Time television series portrayed by Thomas Chaanhing.
Agelmar Jagad is the Lord of Fal Dara, and is concerned with the defense of the city. His personal banner is three running foxes.[1]
History[]
Early life[]
Lord Agelmar was born to House Jagad, the ruling family of Fal Dara. He became the lord of the city, ruling with his sister Amalisa, and became one of the greatest commanders in the Borderlands, defending the most important strategic point in Shienar, Tarwin's Gap.[1] He is well-acquainted with Lan Mandragoran, the Uncrowned King of Malkier, who was raised in Fal Dara after Malkier fell.[2]
Season 1[]
Lord Agelmar welcomes Lan back to Fal Dara upon his return, though is more skeptical to see the Aes Sedai Moiraine Damodred in his presence when she tells him she has come with a warning. Lord Agelmar tells her that Fal Dara can easily hold against Trollocs without the aid of the Aes Sedai, but Moiraine instead says that her warning is that Shadowspawn have begun to use the Ways, and advises him to send a group of men to wall up the Fal Dara Waygate. Agelmar realizes the gravity of the situation, and immediately tells his men to do as Moiraine says. He apologizes for causing offense to Moiraine, and tells her that her companions are welcome for as long as they wish.[2]
When Moiraine and Rand al'Thor leave for the Blight after realizing that the latter is the Dragon Reborn, a great Shadowspawn army threatens to attack Fal Dara. Agelmar is dressed by his sister in his own armor, rather than the family armor, and resolves to defend the city from the threat. However, when Amalisa notes how dire the situation is compared to all other Shadowspawn attacks, Agelmar admits to her that he should have asked the White Tower for aid sooner, and is sure that the Last Battle is truly here, resolving to do the most that he can to save humanity from the forces of the Shadow.
Lord Agelmar and most of the city's men leave for Tarwin's Gap, leaving command of the city's defense to Amalisa. Agelmar's men loose their crossbows against the Shadowspawn, defeating some of their forces, but they overwhelm Agelmar in the Shienaran fortification at the Gap, and the rest are defeated by Amalisa and the female channelers.[3]
Physical appearance[]
Agelmar is a middle-aged man with medium-light skin, almond-shaped brown eyes, and long black hair worn in a topknot. He wears elaborate clothes that incorporate feathers into the design.
