Age of Legends 104Origins

The great civilization of the Age of Legends.

The Age of Legends, or the Second Age, is the name given to the Age of the Wheel of Time preceding the Breaking of the World.

During the Age of Legends, there was no corruption on saidin, and both men and women served as Aes Sedai, "servants of all."[1] The Age was a period of advanced technology, and humanity had the capacity to build enormous structures.[2]

The Old Tongue was the common language of the Age of Legends.

Events[]

The Age of Legends was a time of incredible advancement in philosophy, science, and technology. Incredible progress was made as female and male channelers collaborated together with both saidar and saidin.[3] It was known how to create objects of the One Power during this time, such as angreal, sa'angreal, and ter'angreal.[4]

The Age of Legends came to an end as a result of the War of Power, a great battle between the Light and the Shadow.[5] Eventually, a group of male Aes Sedai led by Lews Therin Telamon attempted to cage the Dark One forever. When they failed, the Dark One corrupted saidin, and all male Aes Sedai turned mad. The civilizational collapse led to the end of the Age of Legends and the beginning of the Breaking of the World, where the land was reshaped entirely.[1]
