Hello! I’m making this account just to speak on this and ask a question. There’s a condition associated with astigmatism called halation that causes bleed of light. White light is comprised of a lot of colors. It is very damaging and straining on eyes even without astigmatism to read white letters. This wiki is an amazing source of knowledge for the WoT community but I find myself not using this in favor of much less damaging alternatives. Why is your font color white as it is not accessible to a large population? Can it be addressed?
We finally have a release date! Season 2 will premiere on Friday, September 1, 2023. We have added a countdown to the wiki's main page. Just 99 days to go!
With the premiere date announcement, we also got:
* synopsis for season 2
* video of Josha announcing the release date
* video with a flash of Old Tongue writing
* 8 new promo stills, and their episode numbers
Here is the official synopsis for season 2:
Based on the best-selling Robert Jordan fantasy series The Wheel of Time, a humble farm boy, Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski, Gran Turismo), learns he is The Dragon Reborn—a dangerous figure from history destined to save the world … or break it. Desperate to protect him from the Dark One, an army of powerful sorceresses must reckon with his burgeoning power and encroaching madness. The Wheel of Time turns, and the Last Battle approaches. Though Rand thought he destroyed the Dark One, evil is not gone from the world. In Season Two, threats new and very old seek out the young friends from the Two Rivers, now scattered over the world. The woman who found and guided them is now powerless to help, and so they must find other sources of strength. In each other, or themselves. In the Light ... or the Dark.
Here is the video announcement from Josha Stradowski (Rand). The official social media Twitter account replied with the video to a fan, @DefaultRand, who has famously (for #TwitterOfTime) been asking for the release date every day -- for 448 days. Watch Josha's message here!

There's also this video announcement with the logo:
https://twitter.com/TheWheelOfTime/status/1661371486865588238
If you watch closely, you'll notice a single-frame flash of Old Tongue writing in the above video. The writing reads: "Tia mi aven Moridin isainde vadin" which translates to: "The Grave is no bar to my call". This phrase is associated with the Horn of Valere.
Here are the 8 new promotional stills. They show Moiraine, Lan, Nynaeve, Egwene, Rand, Perrin, Mat, Loial, Aviendha, the man / the Dark One, and the Seanchan.
Egwene in episode 1. She's wearing a gray apron over white and is handling dishes. She looks displeased.
Mat in episode 1, leaning to the side and staring at a candle flame. Note the tear in his eye.
Nynaeve in episode 3. She's wearing a white slip and looks sad or distressed. (Fans are speculating that this may be set in the room where Rafe Jordan filmed his Q&A for JordanCon 2023, and it may be the location of the Accepted's test.)
Lan in episode 3. He's on horseback on a large black horse (presumably Mandarb) in a forest. His black clothes looks especially awesome.
Moiraine in episode 4. She's on an open street. In the background there's a line of people, possibly a soup line. The roofs of the structures behind her do not look sturdy. Fans are speculating that this may be set in Cairhien.
Two Seanchan women, Loial, and the man who embodies The Dark One in episode 5. Loial is in fine light blue clothing. Fan sleuths suspect that the Seanchan woman in the center is actress Karima McAdams, and the Seanchan woman on the left is actress Jessica Boone.
Aviendha and Perrin in episode 8. Aviendha is veiled and wielding spears for a fight with someone(s) offscreen. Perrin is looking in the same direction but appears unarmed. There is a man in the background that may be Masema, and he is also wielding a weapon and looking at the offscreen thread.
Rand in episode 8. He's hooded with a brown cloak. There's a sword on his back. Beneath the cloak wrapped across his body, a white shirt collar is visible, and the collar is embroidered. On a stone wall in the background behind him, large blue banners are hanging; the banners have the sigil of a golden bird in flight (presumably the Seanchan golden eagle).
As always, catch up on everything we know about season 2 on the wiki's Season 2 page!
It's been a while since we've had a news roundup! With season 2 expected to premiere sometime later this year (still waiting on an exact a release date) I thought it would be fun and informative to start doing the news roundup posts again. So here's some of the recent(ish) news for seasons 2 and 3.
Season 2 casting news
Four cast members were announced in April: Ragga Ragnars as Bain, Maja Simonsen as Chiad, Jay Duffy as Dain Bornhald, and Rima Te Wiata as Sheriam. The four cast members were revealed in a video released at JordanCon on April 22, 2023. Watch the video and Q&A:
One casting announced in May (so far): Meera Syal is portraying the character Verin. (Reported by Nerdist on May 12, 2023.)
Six additional unannounced cast: Laura Crowhurst as stablemaster (per CV), Jacqueline Moré as burned woman (per CV), Nasser Memarzia as Errol (per IMDb), Nila Aalia (per WoTSeries), Joelle (per WoTSeries), Nyokabi Gethaiga (per WoTSeries). (Reported by WoTSeries on May 4, 2023 and May 13, 2023.)
Season 2 other news
Verin first look clip - Meera Syal won a BAFTA fellowship (lifetime achievement award), and the awards show had a montage of her work which included a 2.7 second clip of her as Verin. (Watch it here.)
#WoTWednesday was started again, revealing Siuan's tattoos (see the post from April 26, 2023). For those who don't know, it was a practice by Rafe Judkins and the social media team to release little teasers on Wednesdays to encourage interest among fans, and it was a nice way to market the show leading up to the release of season 1.
#WoTWednesday was suspended for the WGA writers strike, and instead showrunner Rafe Judkins spotlighted writer Amanda Kate Shuman. (See the Twitter thread from May 3, 2023.)
Season 3 news
Filming began on April 17th in Czechia, and is scheduled to continue through October 25th. Prior to filming, the set for the Two Rivers was being rebuilt. (Reported by WotSeries on April 18, 2023.)
Directors - Season 3 directors are Ciaran Donnelly (per CV), Thomas Napper (per CV), and Marta Cunningham (reported by WoTSeries on May 19, 2023).
Audition scripts reveal some elements about season 3 regarding the Aiel and the Two Rivers. Possible minor spoilers, but you can check it out here on WoTSeries, reported May 18, 2023.
Season 3 casting news
Headshots (1) reveal - A video from Rafe Judkins teasing Meera Syal's role showed the headshots of various season 3 cast members, confirming some returning cast: the seven leads, Johann Myers as Padan Fain, Kate Fleetwood as Liandrin, Priyanka Bose as Alanna, Taylor Napier as Maksim, Hammed Animashaun as Loial, Jennifer Cheon Garcia as Leane Sharif, and Kae Alexander as Min Farshaw. (See the video here from April 19, 2023.)
Headshots (1) analysis - Fan sleuths deduced additional cast members based on partial views of some of the other headshots, including: Ceara Coveney (Elayne), Natasha O’Keefe (TBD), Jay Duffy (Dain Bornhald), Ayoola Smart (Aviendha), Sophie Okonedo (Siuan Sanche), Juliet Howland (Natti Cauthon), Abdul Salis (Eamon Valda), Alexandre Willaume (Thom Merrilin), Laia Costa (Magdalena), and new actor Anthony Kaye (TBD). (Reported by WoTSeries on May 4, 2023.)
Headshots (2) - A behind-the-scenes photo revealed a blurry portion of casting call headshots in the background. It appears to include these additional cast members: Narinder Samra (Raen), Nila Aalia (TBA), Joelle (TBA), Rachel Denning (Nyomi), Nyokabi Gethaiga (TBA), Ragga Ragnars (Bain), Maja Simonsen (Chiad), and Diêm Camille (TBA). (See image analysis here.)

So I have a question... who here has read the books and was excited for the TV adaptation and then was throwing fits over everything that was changed?
Don't get me wrong some of the changes I adore, like Egwayne's right of passage of the Women's Circle and images of peoples past. But when you change Perrins entire back story I start throwing hands. I love the opening and the way the demonstrate channeling is meh. I will still watch since I've been waiting for this to come since I saw the preview on Amazon. But there is one major change that I have the biggest issue with.... RAND IS THE MAIN CHARACTER OF ALL THE BOOKS NOT MOIRAINE SEDAI! I'm currently on episode 6
What do you think? Your opinion is important to me!
I am completely new to this world, I had never even heard of the book series, before I saw the trailer on Amazon Prime. That looked promising.
After watching 6 episodes, I have to say: it's not very original, is it? A lot of things that happen, people, places, etc, I've seen it all before in other stories. Channeling for instance, looks to me a lot like 'bending' from The Last Airbender, The Dragon Reborn goes by many names, doesn't he? The one who will bring balance to the Force, the Kwisatz Haderach (Dune), The Prize (from Higlander, the film), etc, etc. The same goes for the Dark One: Melkor, Sauron, the Sith Lord, need I go on? Or that character Thom the gleeman, he comes across as just another Aragorn. And what about that last episode? the exiling of Moiraine looked an awful lot like the discommendation of Worf in Star Trek the Next Generation.
The fifth episode premiered Friday!
